This article addresses the belief that Europe’s states have been undermined by a sovereignty-trumping EU and that the EU’s meddling in the country’s domestic affairs. The author argues that this is inaccurate and that the real threat lies in these states’ inability to capitalize on the benefits of political integration, such as economic opportunities and access to better education.
