This article examines Colombia’s former intelligence agency, the Department of Administrative Security (DAS), which was dissolved and replaced by The National Intelligence Agency (ANIC) in 2011. The author argues that the government had misused the DAS in a bid to control an ever-evasive security environment plagued by organized crime, drug trafficking and political corruption.
