This essay is an account by Zimbabwe's Minster of Finance between 2009 and 2013 of his term in office and his part in the efforts to deal with the effects and causes of the economic decline that affected the country between 1997 and 2008. He also discusses how he worked with his political adversaries to implement his economic reforms, the state of the economy at the end of his term of office and the outlook for the political and economic future of Zimbabwe.
