This paper provides an overview of some of the domestic and foreign policy problems facing Japan's Prime Minister Shinzo Abe in 2015. These include 1) expectations from China and South Korea of apologies over Japan's actions during WWII; 2) the Japanese government’s reinterpretation of Article 9 of the Japanese constitution which bans Japan from having troops of a belligerent character; and 3) free trade negotiations and the country's energy policy.
