This paper describes the main developments and reforms undertaken in the Ukrainian economy from 1991 to 2013. The author contends that, overall, Ukraine’s economy has performed very poorly, and that its reforms moved quite slowly, lagging behind most of Central Europe and many other former Soviet Union countries.
