This brief explores the methods and tools that small states can apply to defend their interests and influence decision-making in the EU. The author first examines the typical structure weaknesses of small states within the EU, before looking at how these states can use special features of their public administration, foreign services and EU delegation, to compensate for their limitations and gain influence.
