This paper looks at Myanmar's government institutions and how well they perform when compared to other Asian countries. It then examines the problems associated with economic governance within Myanmar and identifies ways that civil society can get involved in the process. Third, the paper discusses how international policy initiatives such as the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI) could strengthen the country's reform processes. Finally, the paper provides next-step policy recommendations that will further Myanmar's transformation.
