Following the April 2015 Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action agreement between the P5+1 and Iran on the latter's nuclear program, this brief argues that although lifting the sanctions on the Islamic Republic could provide the EU with a way of diversifying its energy supply, uncertainties and challenges in tapping into Iran's huge natural gas reserves remain.
