This is a training manual for actors who organize and implement community training programs on gender and security issues in Sierra Leone. The author contends that the aim of such programs is to build understanding at the community level about gender and security sector reform, and to encourage community actors – especially women – to participate more actively in peace and security issues in their communities. The manual includes 1) a trainer’s guide with an introduction to the issues of gender and security sector reform, 2) the materials and plans for a three day training program on gender and security; and 3) a list of resources, references and handouts for trainees who partake in the training program.
