This issue provides an overview of conflict trends in a number of African countries in August 2015. Among other topics, the authors look at 1) Algeria's fragile security situation; 2) tentative peace agreements and violence between Islamic State and Al-Qaeda-affiliated groups in Libya; 3) the strategic adaption of Al Shabaab forces in Kenya; 4) the continuation of Boko Haram attacks in Nigeria; 5) the increase in protests and riots in South Africa; and 6) the impact of sweeping security measures in Tunisia following the June terrorist attack at a tourist resort near Sousse. It also includes articles on 1) the effect of good governance on conflict and violence; and 2) peacekeeping and the protection of civilians against violence.
