This report summarizes the conditions under which small and medium size enterprises (SME) operate in Georgia and offer recommendations on how to overcome the challenges hindering their development. The authors first examine the obstacles SMEs in Georgia face, which include difficulty in accessing financing, the high cost of credit, and weak human capital and innovation. They then provide recommendations on how to overcome these using Czech experience and know-how in the SME sector. In this, they provide a roadmap of concrete activities that can help SMEs in Georgia. These include improving information and skills, interventions, innovative financial mechanisms, start-up grants for entrepreneurs, knowledge about European regulations and export opportunities and business sector awareness.
