This edition reviews the status of different conflicts in Africa. Among other topics, the report's authors focus on 1) the September 2015 coup attempt and popular mobilization in Burkina Faso; 2) violence and strategic power-sharing in Burundi; 3) trends in the conflict in the Democratic Republic of Congo; 4) political dialogue and military power play in Libya; and 5) by-election violence and accusations that the United Party for National Development (UPND) incited riots in Zambia. It also includes special features on 1) the potential for electoral violence in Burkina Faso, Central African Republic and Ivory Coast in October 2015; and 2) the role of pro-government militias in conflict and security structures in states across Africa.
