This CCAPS Brief reviews the status of different conflicts in Africa. Among other topics, the report's authors focus on 1) the increased numbers of protests in Algeria over limited public services and the marginalization of rural areas; 2) the latest activities of the terrorist group, the State of Sinai; 3) the violence Egypt experienced during its October 2015 parliamentary elections; 4) intra-party political violence in Guinea; 5) the sharp increase in political contestations in the Republic of Congo, particularly following President Denis Sassou Nguesso’s constitutional amendment on term limits; 5) recent demonstrations over university fees in South Africa; and 6) the protests related to Uganda’s upcoming 2016 elections.
