This analysis reviews Switzerland's transformation-centered North Africa program, which it established shortly after the outbreak of the Arab Spring in 2011. More specifically, the text’s author assesses the three focal points of the program – 1) democratic transitions and human rights; 2) economic development and employment; and 3) the migration and the protection of vulnerable people. Thus far, some parts of the program, such as the return of frozen assets, have come under criticism, while the economic and employment portion has seemingly been the most effective. Despite the mottled reaction to the Swiss initiative, however, it appears that Bern's North Africa program has thus far stood the test of time.
