This brief reviews the status of different conflicts in Africa. Among other topics, the report's authors focus on 1) Nigeria’s general elections and the in-country instability being caused by Boko Haram; 2) recent xenophobia-driven riots and university tuition fee protests in South Africa; 3) the persistent civil war in South Sudan, which is now entering its third year; 4) the increase in ethnic and communal violence in Sudan; and 5) the strategic shifts in Islamist violence in Tunisia. The brief also provides a special feature that highlights the political developments and unexpected trends that Africa experienced in 2015.
