The author of this publication sees the emergence of entrepreneurship in Russia as one of the most promising effects of the country's transition from a command economy to a market one. He documents the development of venture capital in the US and states that help for new businesses largely came from venture capitalists. The author suggests ways of building and utilizing venture capital firms in Russia while recognizing that there are many differences between US and Russian circumstances.
