This brief discusses the challenges Pakistan faces in implementing programs that are designed to counter violent extremism (CVE). The text’s author also recommends ways to overcome these challenges, including 1) developing a better understanding of the drivers of extremism; 2) matching how programs are designed with existing research; 3) aligning available funding with local capacities; and 4) adopting the best practices of existing CVE programs.
