This publication analyzes the air power balance and the growing strength of the People's Liberation Army Air Force (PLAAF) in the context of the border dispute between China and India. While, according to the author, the prospects of a Sino-Indian border war are remote, it is essential that India understands the security implications of the rapidly modernizing Chinese military. The author argues that the PLAAF can decisively surpass regional air forces in strength and capabilities, even if the pace of its modernization is slow.
