This working paper examines US nuclear strategy during the administration of George W Bush. The author argues that this administration has made the most fundamental adjustments to US nuclear strategy since the end of the Cold War, especially with regard to the deterrent strategy, the country's policy on using nuclear weapons, the triad of deterrent forces structure and the nuclear arms control policy. The author goes on to examine the shift of US military focus from Europe to Asia and the Bush administration's nuclear strategy vis-à-vis China.
