This working paper on Europe's natural gas demand is part of the INDES (Insuring against Disruptions of Energy Supply) project. The paper addresses the question of whether the infrastructure investment required for gas pipeline and liquefied natural gas connections will meet growing gas demand in an enlarged EU. This issue is even more important as Europe will be the largest world market for imported natural gas between 2000 and 2020.
