This paper discusses the first US administration of George W. Bush and establishes the central features of what will remain as its legacy. The author examines whether characteristics of Bush, such as "simple language for complex situations" or "evangelical predomination" reflect features of the wider US constituency, or whether they are singular phenomena of a particular administration.
