This paper discusses the relevance of politics and poverty reduction processes, and the new aid relationships promoted by the Poverty Reduction Strategy Paper (PRSP) approach. It illustrates, through the findings from four countries (Bolivia, Georgia, Uganda and Vietnam), how development assistance in support of PRSP processes should not only be embedded in national political systems and processes.
