Publication

This paper explores the relationship between change and violence, and seeks to identify the key elements of rural-urban change, which the author argues is the underlying cause or trigger of violence and insecurity. This study is based on examples from Latin America and the Caribbean, Asia, sub-Saharan Africa and the former Soviet Union and highlights issues relevant to the potential for change-violence nexus and can contribute to the security and development agenda.
