This paper looks at the rural productive sectors in poverty reduction strategies (PRS) outlined in the Bretton Woods institutions, with a focus on agriculture, tourism, forestry and fisheries in Malawi, Nicaragua and Vietnam. This study aims to expand the focus of research on PRS to include the broader policy contexts in which PRS processes operate. Overall, this paper attempts to expand the focus of the analysis beyond the PRS itself to also address the broader policy context in which PRS processes operate.
