This paper analyzes the consequences for macroeconomic management of the envisaged rise in aid to African countries and presents recent research reults that consider the policy implications. Building on recent work from the International Monetary Fund, this study considers long-term and more qualitative matters of aid surge, including the macroeconomic effects of commodity price surges.
