This paper discusses US-Iranian relations. The author argues that while it is unlikely, there is a possibility for closer cooperation between the two countries after the attacks of 11 September 2001. The paper conludes that US options must encompass several factors that shape decision-making in Iran, such as the rise of Persian nationalism and the consensus among leaders on foreign and security issues.
