This paper outlines the areas needing attention during the Finnish presidency of the EU from July through December 2006. It addresses five broad policy areas: economic and environmental policy, justice and home affairs, strategic issues in a wider Europe, and the future of Europe and institutional reform. It concludes by stating that the Finnish presidency's decision to make transparency one of its priorities is the right step to raise political awareness of EU achievements.
