This paper discusses the inter-ethnic relations in Transcarpathian Ukraine and describes the region as an ethnopolitical hot spot. The author provides information on the tensions between Transcarpathian Hungarians and Roma on the one side, as well as Ukrainian State Committee for Nationalities and Migration and Rusyn activists on the other side. The paper examines the effects of contemporary social and economic issues on ethnic minority groups in Transcarpathian Ukraine and details the principles governing inter-ethnic relations in the region.
