6 Jun 2005
This publication documents a joint conference on conflict resolution issues and its discussion on the Meskhetian Turk communities. These communities have (as of 2005) been unable to return to their native region in Georgia, which has come under increased pressure from the Council of Europe to fulfill its obligation to address this issue. The report offers an analysis of nine countries with the aim of examining the Meskhetian Turkish identity, migration processes, concepts of "home" and social organization. The study also addresses the problems faced by the Georgian government and draws up a plan of action.
