This report gives a candid assessment of the current situation in Macedonia and pinpoints the threats to the country’s stability that have arisen out of the Kosovo conflict. The paper introduces the refugee situation in Macedonia, assesses the economic repercussions and explores the interethnic relations in the country. The paper argues that Macedonia’s future depends to a large degree on a swift resolution of the Kosovo crisis and that the country needs assistance to cope with the refugee crisis.
