This report focuses on the state of Serbia’s opposition political parties, their capacities to campaign effectively against the Milosevic regime in increasingly hostile and difficult circumstances and perceptions of the regime and opposition by the Serbian public as reflected in several opinion polls. Furthermore, the paper explores major political trends in Serbia; it analyzes the regime’s vulnerabilities and addresses general prospects for democratic change. The paper argues that there is little reason to expect that the deterioration of economic conditions in Serbia will automatically lead to political change.
