This paper discusses the WTO Agreement on Textiles and Clothing and the removal of all textile and clothing quotas in 2005. The author argues that as a consequence of this agreement the characteristics of global production patterns and trade flows will change substantially and that the EU is significantly affected. He also analyzes the restrictiveness of the quotas that were applied by the EU and makes conjectures about the trade and price adjustments that will follow their abolition.
