This paper discusses the influence of economic integration on sectoral foreign direct investment (FDI) flows from the EU toward Central and Eastern European countries. It investigates the direction of FDI, its impact on the employment structures of exporting countries and addresses investment inflows to similar positioned countries within the EU, such as Spain or Portugal. The author concludes that there is no evidence for negative effects of regional economic integration.
