This paper provides reflections on the EU immigration policy approaches. It looks at the nature, scope and practical implications of the implementations of the EU's Integrated Border Management strategy and its relationship with a common EU immigration policy. The author presents a number of vulnerabilities characterizing these policies and uses the example of the Spanish Canary Islands to illustrate them.
