This paper discusses the aftermath of a nuclear explosion. The first part focuses on response and recovery. The author explains that most people would survive a nuclear explosion in a large city and gives policy recommendations concerning the storage of contaminated waste, population evacuation as well as the survey of essential networks such as water and gas. The second part examines political reactions focusing on the attribution of the explosion to its source.
