This report examines the post-Cold War pattern of conflict with a focus on the role of agriculture. The authors conclude that the rehabilitation of agriculture is a central condition for development, reducing poverty, preventing environmental destruction and for reducing violence. The authors further address how problems in agriculture lead to conflict, the consequences of warfare for agriculture and offer policy recommendations.
