This brief finds that in order to get more children into school in the developing world, parents have to be given money or food in exchange. This is the case as poor parents often cannot afford to wait for future income from educated children. The brief goes on in arguing that by giving food or money to low-income parents who keep their kids in school, two goals are met: the incomes of the poorest families are raised and education to the next generation of parents is provided.
