This report examines how to maximize the impact of mine action on development by tailoring its approach to the specific needs of a mine-affected population, focusing on the link between mine action and development processes. Drawing on findings from studies of Locality Demining in Cambodia and the Task Assessment and Planning methodology from Bosnia and Herzegovina, the authors argue that sound knowledge of the context in which mine action is being conducted enables actors to modify their activities to maximize the development benefits of mine action.
