This report examines the 2007 national elections in Sierra Leone. It sets the election in the context of the country's history as well as broader concerns about state building after conflict. The essay argues that long-term impact of the elections will depend on the elected government's ability to tackle endemic corruption, rebuild infrastructure, encourage investment and democratic governance.
