This paper discusses US trade policy and its effects on developing countries. The author argues that policy is regressive, with the highest tariffs hitting mainly a handful of the world's poorest countries. The paper concludes that the situation undermines US interests by hindering growth in those countries, thereby making them more vulnerable to epidemic diseases, terrorists and transnational criminal organizations.
