This paper examines the strategic relations between India and the US, featuring an analysis and opinion of the former Indian ambassador to the US. It comments on the history of India-US relations since the Cold War and assesses the significance of the July 2005 agreement with a focus on regional and military issues. Subsequently, the paper identifies remaining outstanding differences. The author explains that although many of the problems plaguing US and Indian cooperation may seem formidable, none are insurmountable.
