This paper discusses the first aerial attack employed by the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) against government forces in Sri Lanka in March 2007. The paper examines the motives and implications of the move, asks how the virtual suicidal nature of the attack of the Air Tigers could yield success and traces the general development of LTTE air power since the early 1990s.
