This paper examines foreign relations between India and China. The author explains the impact of the historical relations between the two countries on the contemporary relationship. The paper states that as both China and India emerge as world powers with considerable economic clout, the issue for India has become whether it can possibly allow China a strategic trans-Himalayan space just a few miles from its own plains.
