This paper discusses the two US-Indian joint naval excercises in Malabar in 2007. It details how the excercises form a part of the burgeoning Indo-US relationship and revised pattern of security cooperation. The author also outlines how the naval excercises have helped both nations fill an open-standing capability void in their maritime forces roster.
