This paper explains that in light of India's attempts to build closer relations with East Asian countries within the framework of India's Look East Policy, it is pertinent to both analyze its current impact and make policy recommendations for implementation. The author states that what generally strikes observers of India’s Look East Policy the most is the conspicuous absence of a strategic vision for a future Asia-Pacific region that can inform its policies and actions in the future and will allow India to establish its rightful place in the Asian balance of power.
