This paper traces the extent of Liberia's economic collapse. It compares Liberia to other African states with regard to this matter. The author analyzes the patterns of post-conflict recovery in several African countries and then examines the potential for renewed growth in Liberia. He argues that the single highest priority for Liberia's economic recovery is rebuilding infrastructure, especially roads.
