This paper examines and relates the ideas of complexity theory to the issues of development and humanitarian affairs. It explores the key concepts of complexity science and reflects on their implications before arriving at some general conclusions on what complexity science means for development and humanitarian efforts. The paper details each of the ten concepts of complexity science using real world examples where possible. It also examines the implications of each concept for those working in the business of aid.
