This book examines the role of the European Union as a security actor in the Mediterranean region since the establishment of the Euro-Mediterranean Partnership (EMP), or Barcelona Process, in 1995. The author examine the success and failures of EMP as well as the likely course of its evolution. Particular attention is also given to the EU's handling of Mediterranean security concerns and to the Arab-Israeli conflict.
