This paper provides an overview of the “Monitoring Ukraine’s Security Governance Challenges” conference, which took place in October 2017 in Kyiv, Ukraine. In particular, the conference focused on 1) the role of the media in security sector governance within Ukraine, including its limitations; and 2) international best practices related to media oversight of the security sector.
