This report takes stock of changes in Latin American countries and assesses their consequences for US policy toward Latin America. The authors find that the long-standing focus on trade, democracy and drugs, while still relevant, is inadequate. They recommend reframing US policy around four critical areas: poverty and inequality, public security, migration and energy security. The report argues that Latin America has never mattered more for the US.
